AmericaDesi Scope
AmericaDesi helps the Desi community discover local businesses, events, movies, classifieds, sponsor placements, and Desi Scene community conversations across America. This policy applies to the AmericaDesi iOS app, AmericaDesi public web pages, Desi Scene, and related market experiences such as ChicagoDesi, DallasDesi, and BayAreaDesi.
We do not require an account to browse public directory content. A Desi Scene account is required to view the member feed and participate. When you create a Desi Scene account, publish or interact with content, submit information, request support, contact a provider, claim or update a listing, submit an owner request, or request a sponsor promotion, we collect the information needed to provide, protect, review, and respond to that activity.
Information You May Provide
- Contact details such as name, email address, phone number, business name, and request notes.
- Listing, owner, classified, event, promotion, support, or deletion details that you submit for review, including photos or flyers you choose to upload.
- SMS one-time passcode information used to verify phone numbers for owner, promote, contact, or protected-contact workflows.
- Desi Scene account details, including your Scene Name, display name, biography, email address, phone number, password-derived security records, device and session identifiers, home market, age-18 confirmation, and policy acceptances.
- Desi Scene posts, comments, photos, videos, likes, follows, saves, reports, blocks, mutes, moderation outcomes, appeals, account-recovery activity, and notification preferences.
- Optional support or deletion request details that help us find the relevant submission, listing, or account-like record.
Desi Scene Community And Safety
Desi Scene profiles and published content may be public, shared, or indexed. Phone numbers, email addresses, verification records, password-derived records, device credentials, private reports, blocks, and mutes are not public profile fields.
AmericaDesi uses automated and human review to detect spam, fraud, unsafe text or media, impersonation, privacy violations, harassment, threats, and other Community Guidelines violations. We use reports, blocks, mutes, moderation evidence, sanctions, and appeals to protect members and respond to abuse.
Optional Location
The AmericaDesi iOS app may ask for location permission to open the nearest active market. You can deny location access and still browse the national home and city pages.
When location is used for app-start routing, raw coordinates are used on the device to choose the closest active market and may be cached locally for a limited time. We do not require precise location to browse. Analytics may receive coarse routing context such as market or distance bucket, not raw coordinates.
Forms, Owner Requests, And Sponsor Requests
Contact forms, owner flows, listing updates, protected contact requests, and sponsor promotion requests may collect contact information, business/listing details, verification status, and request notes so the AmericaDesi team can review the request and follow up. Sponsor promotion submissions are reviewed before any sponsored placement starts.
Analytics
We use privacy-conscious usage analytics to understand whether the app and website are useful and reliable. This can include a randomly generated persistent anonymous identifier, a temporary session identifier, page views, listing views, search activity, clicks, device/browser type, market, route path, broad usage events, performance timing, and broad city or region inferred from hosting-edge request metadata. These analytics identifiers are not an advertising identifier and are not linked to submitted contact information. Device GPS coordinates used for optional market routing and distance sorting are processed on the device and are not stored in analytics.
Search analytics may include privacy-sanitized and length-limited search text or query categories to improve search quality. Runtime sanitizers are designed to redact contact-like values, links, tokens, and other sensitive text before analytics storage.
Sponsor analytics may store campaign ids, placement ids, placement type, sponsor label, views, and actions so sponsor reporting can work. Sponsor analytics are separate from verification, ownership, and organic ranking signals.
Device Notifications
AmericaDesi version 1.0 does not request push notification permission or collect a push notification device token. If a future app version enables notifications, we will update this policy and the App Store privacy disclosure before collecting a notification token.
How We Use Information
We use submitted information to operate the directory and Desi Scene, secure accounts, publish community content, provide interactions, moderate content, process reports and appeals, verify requests, respond to support and deletion requests, review owner and sponsor submissions, prevent abuse, improve search and product quality, and maintain reliability. We do not sell your personal contact information.
We may use trusted service providers for hosting, database storage, email and SMS verification, content moderation, analytics processing, image/video storage and processing, and operational support. Public listing or Desi Scene information that you submit for publication may appear after review.
Retention And Security
We keep information for as long as needed to operate the service, provide public content, review requests and safety reports, maintain business and moderation records, prevent abuse, and comply with applicable obligations. Deleted Desi Scene content is removed from AmericaDesi public delivery, while limited moderation, fraud, legal, dispute, and backup records may remain where necessary. We use reasonable safeguards, but no online service can guarantee perfect security.
Access, Correction, And Deletion Requests
AmericaDesi members can initiate whole-account deletion inside the app from Account → Account settings → Delete account. This removes the account and its public Desi Scene content after required security verification. To request access, correction, deletion, or help with a privacy question, contact us. Include enough information for us to find the relevant account, submission, listing, phone verification, or support request. We may need to retain limited records when required for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, moderation evidence, or operational integrity.
Children
AmericaDesi is a community directory and is not directed to children under 13. Desi Scene account creation and participation are limited to people age 18 or older.
Updates
We may update this policy as AmericaDesi changes. The latest public version will be available at https://americadesi.us/privacy.
